A reinterpretation of "Brahmasutras", a commentary on the central teachings of the Upanisads. The main argument of the book is that in order to understand the theistic and devotional nature of religious philosophy underlying Vedanta, one has to depend on the theological teachings of the Bhagavata.
The author has combined his knowledge of original Sanskrit materials with his study of western philosophy to produce a new interpretation of the Brahmasūtras. He has put forward and amply substantiated a very challenging thesis: the original Brahmasūtras and the Upanisads can be interpreted in the light of the theological ideas of the Bhāgavata and the teachings of Sri Caitanya. It is an illuminating study of modern Hinduism which exposes the scriptural bases of modern ideas.

Rampada Chattopadhyay (1872-1956) was a scholar of Hindu Theology and said to be a brilliant scholar of the University of Calcutta. During his service in the British administration he acquired knowledge of Sanskrit Śāstric tradition and its extensive philosophical literature, which earned him the title Vedānta Vidyārṇava. He wrote a number of works in Bengali, and his Brahmasītra-O-Bhāgavata ran into some 2,200 pages. The present work is an abridged English translation of the same.
