The Transvestite and the Transsexual

Using interview and documentary material, this sociological study describes and examines the experience of both groups from the perspective of transvestites and transsexuals themselves and from the perspective of surgeons, psychiatrists and psychologists. It seeks to understand the nature of transvestism and transsexualism as social categories and considers how and why they have emerged, how they are applied and their consequences.
