There are four pages of exercise material at the end of the text. The "Longman Picture Classics" are designed to be easier and of a lower level than stage 1 "Longman Classics". They are shorter, with less text in larger typeface and with illustrations on every double-page spread. "A Tale of Two Cities" is centred around London and Paris at the time of the French Revolution. It tells the story of of Charles Darnay, condemned to death for his origins in the nobility, and of his eventual escape.
