The Essential Pocket Guide.
What are Irish Court Cairns? And what are Portal Tombs? Are Irish megalithic sites really older than the Great Pyramid? What does Irish rock art mean? What were the ancients up to? In this unique illustrated pocket book, legendary Irish artist and historian Hector McDonnell takes us on a guided tour of ancient Ireland, which in early times seems to have been the most civilised land in the whole of Europe, as indeed, it may still be today.

Hector McDonnell is an Irish painter, who exhibits regularly in the British Isles, Europe and New York as well as having had two museum retrospectives. He also writes on Irish historical and prehistorical subjects, and has produced three other titles for Wooden Books: 'Irish Round Towers', 'St Patrick' and 'Holy Hills and Pagan Places of Ireland'. He lives in the North of Ireland.
