By following the Biblical and Patristic readings from the "Divine Office", the reader is able to join the Catholic Church in meditating on Christ's preparation in the Desert, on his Passion and his Resurrection.

Day by day through Lent and the three Holy Days of Easter, this book includes treasures of meditation and prayer drawn from the "Office of Readings" in the Catholic Church's own Liturgy of the Hours. The "Office of Readings" is an important part of the Breviary, or Prayerbook, also known as the "Divine Office" (because it is the official daily prayer of the entire Church). All Catholic priests are obliged by Canon Law to read it each day, and the laity are encouraged to do so whenever possible. By following these Biblical and Patristic readings from the "Divine Office", the reader is able to join the whole Church in meditating on Christ's preparation in the desert, on his Passion and his Resurrection.
