Mirko Starčević received his PhD in literary studies at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature at the same institution. For his BA thesis, “Fear and Influence: A Belated Poet’s Ontological Agon with a Poetical Precursor,” he received the prestigious France Prešeren Faculty Award for Undergraduate Students at the Faculty of Arts. His research interests focus on Victorian poetry, religion in 19th-century England (primarily the Oxford Movement, John Henry Newman, and Gerard Manley Hopkins), aestheticism, philosophy and poetry, English Romanticism, and American modern poetry. Five of his academic papers on literature have been published in reputable peer-reviewed literary journals, most notably Acta Neophilologica, Elope, and Comparative Literature (Primerjalna književnost).
