Introduction

This book was written, not only to share my love and experiences with The Holy Spirit, but also to encourage those who are ready to go to the next level in their spiritual walk with God. It is for those who want to learn more about The Holy Spirit and how to operate under His anointing and power.

I believe we are currently in a season where, more than ever, the work God is desiring will be done through us by the power of His Holy Spirit, for His glory. In this book, I will reveal the awesome power of God through His Holy Spirit. I will show you how His anointing and power changed my life, and how He wants to do the same in yours. My prayer is that after reading this book, your life will be changed, and in return, you will do the same and go forth and change someone else’s.

My heart yearns for all believers to be free to walk in The Spirit, operating in the power of God. I believe The Holy Spirit will soon show Himself mightily through a remnant of believers who will operate in His signs, wonders, and miracles, causing unbelievers to see His glory and believe in Him. I pray He will use you to be a part of this move.

Heavenly Father, open my spiritual eyes to see and my spiritual ears to hear what The Spirit of God is saying to me in this season. I pray as I journey through this book, the fire of The Holy Spirit will illuminate each page and more of Your revelation and mysteries will be revealed to me. In Jesus’ name! Thank You! Amen.

My Spiritual Journey

I grew up in Mobile, Alabama with two wonderful Christian parents and seven siblings. I will never forget those days with my family because they helped mold me into who I am today. It was there that my spiritual journey with The Holy Spirit began.

God called me into the ministry at twelve years old. I can remember sitting at the foot of my mother’s bed one evening as she watched television. I looked out her window into the night sky, and there before me was an image of a white cross. Suddenly, I felt the presence of God all over my body. Because I was so young, I didn’t understand what was happening to me, so I shook it off thinking it was my imagination. I never shared this experience with anyone until much later in life. I tried to go about my life as a typical teenager, but I started having divine dreams and visions that I could not stop thinking about. The Bible states that in the last days, we would dream dreams. Though I did not understand God’s word at the time, He still gave me dreams and visions.

One night I had a dream I was at a house praying for a man who was going through troubled times. As he stood before me, I laid my right hand on his forehead, then he fell back into the chair behind him. I looked at my right hand and it was red, as though it was on fire. The man got up and asked me, “What was that?” I said to him, “It was the power of God.” After this, I awaken from the dream, yet it felt so real. I can still envision the man, the house, and even the chair he fell back into.

On another night, I had two visions which also seemed real. In the first one, I saw the sky open. As I stood in an open field, blue and white wrapped gift boxes fell from the open sky. I ran through the field catching some of the boxes, but others fell all around me. It was such a beautiful and peaceful moment; one I still cannot fully explain. I had no idea what the dream meant until I became more spiritual in my walk with God.

The setting of the second vision began with the darkest night sky I had ever seen. I then saw beautiful and colorful images of people, objects, and symbols, coming down from the dark sky. The objects were clear and close enough for me to reach up and touch. Each one represented something, but the meaning at the time was unclear.

As time went on, I had more dreams. I had dreams where I would lay my hands on the dead and they would open their eyes and rise up. I had numerous dreams where it would rain and not cease, causing water to saturate the ground. I would be standing in the middle of a flood, always in the same city and at the same location. Of course, all these dreams and visions were scary for a teenager, so I kept them to myself. Throughout the years, I prayed that God would reveal to me the meaning of each of them. Eventually, He showed me the purpose of each one, but it would not be until much later in life that I fully understood them all. As you continue to read this book, you will see these dreams unfold.

After graduating from college in 1985, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia, married, and had two children. There God employed me at a governmental agency where I met co-workers who became some of my closest and dearest friends.

When I first met my co-worker, LaVonne Hester-Smith, I am sure she found me somewhat peculiar being that I often talked about God. On one occasion, LaVonne and I were given a work assignment requiring us to drive from Atlanta, Georgia to Jacksonville, Florida. As she drove, I read my Bible. While reading, I became elated as I heard God speak to me. Excitedly, I shouted, “LaVonne, I can hear God’s voice!
I can hear the voice of God in my spirit speaking to me! I know what He is telling me to do! I know what I must do! He is telling me to get out the boat!” Right away, I knew this meant to go into ministry. LaVonne stared at me and said, “Then do what He’s telling you to do.” I don’t think she fully understood what was happening to me, though we still chuckle about it today, thirty years later.

On another one of my peculiar work days, I yelled out to one of my co-workers, Barry Huff, and said, “Barry, I feel God’s anointing in my right hand! It’s in my right hand!” As I looked at my hand, it was radiating as though it was on fire. I eventually learned that the anointing of God for healing was in my right hand as it is with many others who operate in the healing ministry.

As time progressed, I constantly thought about my dreams, visions, feelings, and reactions. I needed to know what all this meant so I turned to the Bible. I was twenty-three years old when I decided that I would read it in its entirety. I found a local university near my job with a study room. I went there every day after work. I studied the Bible until I realized I had read it from Genesis to Revelation. I learned it inside and out until many of its pages fell out. God’s Word came alive to me, and I believed every word of it.

Each day after leaving the library, I would go home, fall to my knees, and cry out to The Lord with these words, “Use Me. Father, please let me serve You. Lord, if you can use anybody, please use me!” I wanted so badly to be used by Him. I felt my life would not be complete until He answered my prayer. There is a song by singer and songwriter, Ron Kenoly, entitled, Use Me. I played it every day. I asked to be used, and I believe God heard my prayer.

The Office Bible Study

Three years later, I was sitting at my desk when I heard God calling me to start a Bible study at work. I thought, I am not a preacher or teacher, and I don’t know enough to teach anyone. Father, please not me, I don’t think I can do it. I couldn’t sleep at night because I kept hearing a still small voice say, “Chimain, didn’t you ask me to use you? Didn’t you tell me you wanted to serve me? Haven’t you been studying My Word every day? Now, go and teach the people what thus saith the Lord.” I could hear God’s voice so clearly.

I shared what I was hearing with my co-worker, Terrance Thornton. He said to me, “Chimain, I will help you start the Bible study, but you must first go and ask for permission from our director, as well as get permission to use one of the conference rooms.” I thought, You want me to ask one of our top executives for permission to have a Bible study in a governmental facility; are you crazy? Though it sounded insane, I knew I had to be obedient to God. Besides, I was the one who kept crying out to Him to use me, so this was my chance to be faithful to Him.

Approaching Mr. Byrd, the executive director of our office, was like approaching the President of the United States of America. As doubt and fear ran through my mind, I questioned if he would consider this. Frantically shaking, I prayed again, “Lord, I am only twenty-six years old. Help, me. I don’t think I can do this.” I trembled all the way to Mr. Byrd’s office. Hoping he would not be there, I knocked on the door and peeked inside. Not surprisingly, there he was in his presidential oval office suite, sitting at his desk in his large luxurious leather chair. I asked if I could come in and he replied, “Yes.” As I walked towards him, still trembling, he invited me to sit and asked me what was on my mind. I said, “Mr. Byrd, God told me to start a Bible study class and I need your permission to use one of the conference rooms.” For a moment he was quiet, then he looked at me and said, “Chimain, if God told you to do this, then you have my permission.” Not only did he give me permission, but he also gave me the largest conference room in the building. I learned that He too was a Christian and a humble man, one who continues to serve The Lord with all his heart. I quickly left Mr. Byrd’s office, headed straight into the lady’s...
