This is an invaluable book for people with some learning of the Christian faith, withstanding God's call to dedicate their lives to him. It's meant mainly for those who are seeking God but have not yet decided and are lingering at the Wicket Gate. Spurgeon goes through the various excuses people give for not being devoted to the Lord entirely and tries to convince those standing at the gate to enter and have faith. His love for Christ and his dedication to bringing people to salvation through Christ is prominent throughout the work. Spurgeon's incredibly poetic and detailed description of Christ's sacrifice on the cross adds to the charm of this book.

Spurgeon's style of writing this beautiful work is simple, direct, and flawless. His words are wise, and his arguments are genuinely convincing. It wonderfully lays out the power of the gospel to save people and doesn't dilute its message. In addition, this book is filled with illustrations that clarify his point very well.
