Where Are We Headed in Discussing
“The Law of Economics” (LOE)
or Economic Science?

Neither socialism nor our present-day Neo-Feudalism in America are the answers to our current economic or social problems.

Science nor religion make laws or inventions; they are a means to discovering laws and principles that are already here for us to find. The Law of Economics, a soft science, is only interested in a favored few with money and power as their primary obsessions, which are fueling greed. Environment and agency (the right to make choices that produce a result) within an environment will allow science and religion to work or not work.

You obey the laws you find in your search for a workable solution and accept the anomalies of environments within an environment that do not always allow perfect outcomes. I found that idea to be true in the Laws of Science. The LOE (Law of Economics in its many versions) claims to be a science. If it is a science, where do we find the evaluations of its collateral effects? This is merely forced to fit postulates, theorems, and assumptions, in this case to favor a few. Science sets the environment so close to their absolute ideal (postulates / theorems / assumptions), it lets one assume it is efficacious. For a very few people, it is working because the LOE’s truth is found based upon a sterile, myopic approach that lacks a thorough and rigorous analysis. The continued acquiescence to the pattern of the evolution of the LOE in all its past forms must stop.

Universally accepted, or God given attributes must be applied to all aspects of our life including Science and religion.

Attributes include:

All other laws have anomalies that are out of the reach of man. The laws that are found, that generally work, are sufficient to bless our lives. Those laws with inconsistencies found in either science or mankind’s interpretation of religion must be accepted until a brighter day. We all must accept the irregularities of life and be appreciative of those laws that work, right up to the point where science does not account for unforeseen anomalies. We must never think our achievements are perfect without spot or future liabilities.

Agency is necessary for freedom, science, and religion to exist. Agency can also be the Achilles’ heel of mankind, science, and religion, if not used properly. All man’s laws that have been discovered, whatever their nature, they must benefit all mankind. We must carefully note the parameters of our findings that produce a desired result. We must acknowledge that despite our best efforts, inconsistencies will come along the way to frustrate our resolve. We need a more thorough analysis in the many realities that exist, not just following a road to discovery of our own making. The scientific method only works to a point, with all its pound to fit assumptions, lawsuits are sure to come, and lives lost. Just look around, listen, and read the news and see who is dying, impaired, handicapped, because of medications, personal property failures, machines, rockets, airplanes, or structures being defective. Which begs the question, why scientific researchers include establishing contingency funds to defend themselves? Demonstrating they accept the reality of their own limitations. No math or science that poses as empirical evidence is without risk.

The right to choose the out-come, due to environments is not only a human condition, as agency and environment also apply to chemistry, physics, and most of the micro and macro world. With no one knowing the outcomes for sure. Despite the contrived environments we identify in science that usually bring us to an almost predictable conclusion. There are other things that happen even down to the atom that allows it to have agency to change predictable outcomes due to environment’s slightest change. The slightest change in environment can change outcomes due to positive or negative abnormalities unforeseen and not accounted for in scientific research. A couple examples follow.

1) Shuttle disaster.

“After a thorough analysis of the camera images and telemetry data was completed, the following scenario of events leading up to the Challenger explosion emerged: At launch time, the temperature at the Kennedy Space Center was 36 degrees … This was 15 degrees colder than any previous Space Shuttle launch.”2

Another example that has been tracked for years is lowering the kindling point of wood.

2) Tremonton, Utah’s Hotel Fire was caused by “Pyrophoric carbon,” it happened along the old steam heating system pipes that were too close to the wood frame of the old hotel. Apparently, the wood charred, absorbed oxygen which caused the fire. The proximity of the pipes produced heat which under certain conditions caused the charred wood eventually to catch fire. The steam pipes caused a lower kindling point over time, the change in environment caused the fire of this long-standing historic hotel. Agency allows us to be free to make decisions. As fallen man, we forget that this agency tempts us to try to escape the irregularity of nature by twisting and deviating from nature, a nature that has its own freedom to choose a different result. And our successes in science must include a duty to admit, up front, future contingency results, that may result in unaccounted for consequences.

Agency is within everything we touch and do, but if the right environment is not identified to the minutest detail, it fails eventually. With humans, the chemistry within each of us can vary and affect our environment and outcomes. Ironically, our agency (choices) in our day to day can affect our body’s chemistry. This along with DNA and lifestyle gives us a multiplicity of environments to contend with.

This understanding of anomalies is not generally admitted in science, economics or even in misapplied religion. Especially in the law of economics with greed as its premise to money and power, both are glitches with collateral effects on society. Only religious or innately universal, spiritual attributes contained in our individual moral compasses and applied to our life situations, are sufficient to address and redress the issues with our economy. Scientific method has taken us too far afield in economic science, applying man’s theorems, postulates, and assumptions with catastrophic results. No results that have been found to apply to the whole of mankind can verify Economic Science or the Law of Economics’ efficacy. We are to apply our universally inborn desires including the right of fairness and decency in our Economic science and the LOE, if these attributes were applied things would change.

Acceptance of Science as the Be All, Know All of Mankind.

The question of the veracity of science or religion comes into play when we call the LOE scientifically proven by the scientific method, or in the case of theology, sound doctrine, which is dependent on the person’s window of observation, predisposition, experience, truthfulness, and willingness to accept unexplainable limitations.

With our bias to justify our position on almost anything and everything, one thing becomes obvious. Agency, the freedom of making independent choices is at the forefront. In science, religion, agnosticism, or however we slice and dice the problems, it boils down to choices. And some choices are not ours to make. It seems each conclusion comes with a premise that our window is the only window. Many people spend their lifetime trying to prove their ideology. Discovery hinges on the whole environment in which our observations exist. In science, when we consider the micro or macro-observations, we must assess all the other important independent factors caused by different environments.

For example, see the article in Nature “Battle Between Quantum and Thermodynamic Laws Heats Up” by David Castelvecchi found in the 29 March 2017 issue and corrected in the 11 April 2017 issue. According to the article, physicists are trying to rebuild the laws of thermodynamic heat and energy for processes at a quantum scale with assumptions that have little or no correlation.

Even what we think we really know is unknown.

Independent of our postulates, theorems, and assumptions is the discovery of the interactions within the atom or gravitation attraction in every environment, which truths have not been found in all the unaccounted anomalies. Interactions that are relevant in true science or religion, and not our conjecture, are not all remotely understood. So, it is in economics. The results we see, like it or not, are the findings of science and religion with poor assumptions. This neglectful application of science in science and in the LOE, with all its unproven assumptions and conjectures are a travesty. We merely must open our eyes and look for what we do not want to see. Its messy!

We are on a planet where we study our environment, and cause and effect can be somewhat identified. Not all causes and effects are or can be identified in the LOE, not by a long shot.

The LOE is not science either, if people believe science is an assemblage of all facts. Facts in science are assumptions, and the application of science can foster a whole lot of fiction as well as workable theory. Science is not the end all, be all of knowledge....
