Britain and the Growth of US Hegemony in Twentieth-Century Latin America

Rory M. Miller was Reader in International Business History at the University of Liverpool Management School before his retirement in 2016. He has co-edited the Journal of Latin American Studies, as well as several books, including Business History in Latin America: The Experience of Seven Countries (1999), and Capitalists, Business and State-Building in Chile (2019). His own books include Britain and Latin America in the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries (1993), and Empresas britanicas, economia y politica en el Peru, 1850-1934 (2011). Thomas C. Mills is Lecturer in Diplomatic and International History at Lancaster University and Vice-Chair of the Transatlantic Studies Association. He is the author of Post-War Planning on the Periphery: Anglo-American Economic Diplomacy in South America, 1939-1945 (2012), and a number of articles on British and US policy towards Latin America in journals including International Affairs, Diplomacy and Statecraft and the Journal of Transatlantic Studies.
