Sophie Lorenz, geb. 1982, studierte Geschichte, Politikwissenschaft und Öffentliches Recht an der Universität Heidelberg. Sie war dort als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Historischen Seminar tätig und schloss 2018 ihre Dissertation ab.
»Lorenzs work is [...] an important and welcome contribution to the cultural history of the Cold War and one that I would recommend to anyone interested in the subject.« Sara Pugach, German History Journal, 13.05.2022 »The book makes several important historiographical interventions. Most immediately, it contributes to a growing literature that has productively complicated the relationship between official anti-racism and the persistence of racism in East Germany but that heretofore has favored synchronic perspectives and explanations, especially within the context of German-German competition.« David Spreen, Connections, 13.11.2021 »Das Buch von Sophie Lorenz bereichert die jüngere Forschung um die Beziehungen zwischen afroamerikanischen Aktivist:innen und der DDR, die auch abseits des akademisch-geschichtswissenschaftlichen Feldes jüngst häufiger thematisiert wird.« Paula Dahl, H-Soz-Kult, 28.05.2021 Besprochen in: Youtube, 31.07.2020, TV Berlin www.frauensolidaritaet.org, 10 (2020) www.centrum3.at, 3 (2020) Connections, 13.11.2021, David Spreen
