Typus, Kultur und Taxonomie

Klassifikation ist eine Methode der Objekterschließung in der Prähistorischen Archäologie. Sowohl ihre Methodik als auch die chronologischen Interpretationen ihres Outputs bedienen sich einer spezifischen Fachsprache, die Begriffe vor allem aus den Naturwissenschaften aber auch aus der Kunstwissenschaft und der Alltagssprache verwendet. Am Beispiel der methodischen Schriften Jens Lünings zu einem von ihm konzipierten Arbeitsablauf [workflow], dem sogenannten taxonomischen Schema, verfolgt diese Arbeit die Bedeutungsverwandlungen von Begriffen wie Typus, Kultur, Stil, Genese und Taxonomie. Sie erschließt ihre Verwendungen und ihre Bedeutungsgehalte in den Disziplinen, aus denen die Prähistorische Archäologie sie entnommen hat, und spiegelt diese mit den Gehalten, die sie in den Schriften Lünings bekommen. Dabei zeigt sich, dass Begriffe zu Metaphern werden können, die sich im Forschungsprozess wieder als Begriffe konsolidieren oder als erfolglose Metaphern aus der Fachsprache verschwinden können.

Its methodology as well as the chronological interpretation of its output uses a specific professional language including terms of natural sciences, history of art and everyday language. Based on the methodological writings of Jens Lüning in which he created a specific workflow - the so-called taxonomisches Schema - the present text focuses on the shifting in the meaning of terms such as type, culture, style, genesis and taxonomy. The text compares the definition these terms have in the sciences from which they originate with the content they receive in the works of Jens Lüning. It can be seen that defined terms transform into metaphors that might consolidate as terms in a new scientific context or disappear as failed metaphors from the professional language.
