"Ecosystemic therapy" - emerging from the "ecosystemic epistemology" of Auerswald and Keeney - is explored here in terms of both theory and practice. Case studies are given to illustrate hypnotherapeutic techniques.
"Ecosystemic epistemology" - this is the term used here to describe the different way of thinking about human behaviour emerging from the theories of Bateson, Von Bertalanffy, Van Foerster and others. In turn we have "ecosystemic therapy", working with the co-construction of alternate meanings or realities - a technique used as part of ecosystemic psychotherapy. The first part of this book is devoted to the epistemology and theory underlining this approach to hypnosis when used in therapy. In the second, the way hypnosis is applied is dealt with. Various case studies are given to illustrate hypnotherapeutic techniques.

Introduction - from traditional to ecosystemic thinking; the development of ecosystemic thinking; the Newtonian nature of current hypnosis theories; the influence of Newtonian thinking on the practice of hypnosis; an ecosystemic approach to hypnosis; application of an ecosystemic view in treatment; differential effectiveness - an ecosystemic view; ecosystemic hypnosis - past, present and future.
