Charles Crothers is Professor of Sociology in the Department of Social Sciences at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, and Senior Research Associate at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. His current areas of research include Social Theory, Methods of Applied Social Research and Policy Processes, the History and Current Situation of Sociology, and Settler Societies (especially New Zealand and South Africa). He has also been the co-editor of New Zealand Sociology and is currently senior editor of the Royal Society of New Zealand's Kotuitui: New Zealand Journal of Social Sciences Online and Vice-President of the Research Committee on History of Sociology of the International Sociological Association.
