Yorkshire lass, Hilda and Northamptonshire lad, Aylmer met and fell in love as teenagers but the onset of war, parental disapproval, illness and conscience seemed to conspire to thwart fulfilment of their hopes and dreams.

Would love and faith be sufficient to sustain them in the face of distance and separation, tragedy and heartache?

Letters written between 1939-1943 give evidence of the grace of God and the power of prayer upon which they depended throughout those difficult years which culminated in unspeakable joy in a Nottinghamshire coal mining village.
