The Reception of Husserlian Phenomenology in North America

Michela Beatrice Ferri obtained a BA (2005) and a MA (2007) both in Philosophy and earned her PhD in Philosophy in 2012 at the State University of Milan. Her dissertation is dedicated to the first reception of Edmund Husserl's philosophy in the United States of America. She has been Visiting Ph.D Student at the New School for Social Research in New York (July-August 2010) and at the Husserl-Archives in Leuven (July 2011). Currently she is researcher at the Centro Internazionale Insubrico (State University of Varese) and she is author of a book titled "La fenomenologia husserliana negli Stati Uniti d'America" (Mimesis, Milan, forthcoming). She has been Visiting Researcher at the CSTMS of the University of California Berkeley (September-October 2014). Her researches focuses on the reception of Phenomenology in Italy and in the United States of America, on modern and contemporary Aesthetics, on the dialogue between Philosophy and contemporary art and architecture and on the relationship between Phenomenology and contemporary philosophy of science.
