The Elements of Avicenna's Physics

This study is the first comprehensive analysis of the central concepts of the natural philosophy of the Islamic philosopher Avicenna (d. 1037). Through a careful reading of his works and an investigation of the preceding philosophical developments, it puts Avicenna's thought in its historical context of the Aristotelian tradition, while positioning his physical theory within its systematic context of his own philosophy.
