Professor G. P. Pandey is presently Dean of Abanindranath Tagore School of Creative Arts and Communication Studies, India, and Head of the Department of Mass Communication at Assam University, India. He received a PhD degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Banaras Hindu University, India, and has served as Director of Adult Education at the Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi, India. He has several publications to his credit, including a book which was awarded the Bharatendu Harishchandra prize by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India.Dr Charu Joshi is a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Indian Council of Social Science Research, and former Assistant Professor in the Department of Mass Communication at Assam University, India, where she received a PhD in Mass Communication. Her research work includes advertising, women’s empowerment and Indian soap operas.Dr Paromita Das is Assistant Professor in the Department of Mass Communication at Assam University, India, having received a PhD in Mass Communication from the same institution. She has worked as State Media Expert of National Rural Health Mission, Assam, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India. Having also worked as Assistant Director under the award-winning director, Shri Joshy Joseph, for the Kolkata Films Division, she has produced and directed several documentary films for Doordarshan.
