This CD-ROM presents high-resolution (225dpi) images, newly photographed with a digital camera, linked to full transcripts, commentary and collations.

Images of every page and of all binding fragments of the Hengwrt Chaucer are liknked in this CD-ROM to a full transcript of all text and glosses in the manuscript. A complete word-by-word collation of the whole text of the Hengwrt Chaucer with the Ellesmere Chaucer (the other crucial early manuscript of the Tales) highlights all differences between the texts. A navigation tool allows keying in of a Fragment or Group line number to find the image or text which contains that line, while a full text search permits the finding of all occurrences of any word in context. The Merthyr fragment is also presented, with transcription of both the English texts and Welsh marginalia, with transcription of the latter.
