Catherine Raeff completed her Ph.D. at Clark University in 1993, and is currently an associate professor in the psychology department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her work on parent-child interactions and self-development now focuses on how cultural values shape developing modes of independence and connectedness. Janette B. Benson is an associate professor of psychology at the University of Denver, where she is a Sturm Professor of Excellence in Education. She has co-edited with Marshall Haith, Rob Roberts and Bruce Pennington, The Development of Future-Oriented Processes, and co-authored with Marshall Haith the infant cognition chapter in the last edition of the Handbook of Child Psychology.
