Episteme des Pikaresken

This is the first systematic study of the specific capacity of early picaresque novels to create and present knowledge. It analyzes the narrative structure of the novels and reconstructs and contextualizes their sources to examine different modalities for their adaptation. The study describes the historical context for the unique discursive and textual features of picaresque narrative in greater detail than ever before. Die Studie stellt erstmals systematisch die Frage nach spezifischen Möglichkeiten der frühen pikaresken Romane, Wissen zu formen und zu präsentieren. Erzählstrukturelle Analysen werden hierzu mit der Rekonstruktion und Kontextualisierung von Quellen sowie der Untersuchung verschiedener Modi ihrer Adaptation verknüpft. So kann die diskursive und textuelle Eigenart pikarischen Erzählens in seiner Historizität präziser als bisher erfasst werden.
