Betrayal is the violation of trust that results in extreme distress far beyond the event itself.  It is deliberate collusion to cause one to lose something that is most important to them.
The Piper---Satan---knows, better than most of us, which deviations he needs to fabricate to get us off course of our eternal destiny. His easiest play is to corrupt the written Word with eloquence so that it’s readers can bring a curse upon themselves simply by reading or hearing it.
 
Adam & Eve had only one thing to get right but the Piper knew how to twist what God said to entice the first parents into rebellion thus bringing their entire household and future generations to captivity and destruction.
 
Likewise, we have only one commandment that we must get right and the Piper, unknown to us, enjoys the advantage of a huge head start on an epic betrayal unwittingly promoted through various Bible translations by our teachers. Indeed the shepherds fiddle while the people are perishing.
