From the Limbourg brother to Memling, from Van Eyck to Van der Goes, The Flemish painters of the 15th century introduced new ways of seeing and new ways of painting, heralding a turning point in European painting. With the aid of reproductions of more than 120 paintings, this CD-ROM presents the opportunity to view the work of the founders of this era in art history in depth. It is part of a series of six CD-ROM titles which examine the work of Bruegel, Rembrandt, Rodin, Rubens, Van Eyck and Vermeer. The work of these eminent artists and their immediate contemporaries is set against the history of their life and times, illuminating their influences and inspirations in a comprehensive yet accessible way. The CD-ROMs include reproductions which facilitate study of the paintings as a whole or in detail, while pre-set details highlight the minutiae of the paintings. Cross referencing between the paintings, text and index shows the artists, themes and techniques, as well as providing social and biographical details.
