Multifocused Genograms are essential for today’s practitioner because of the complexity that is now an inherent part of clients’ lives. With such ever growing complexity coupled with constraints on the length of treatment time, it is essential that clinicians use assessment tools that enable them to take an accurate read on presenting situations early on in therapy to prevent re-assessment further down the road. This revised edition contains seven new chapters that discuss new assessment tools such as the couple interaction map and family attachment patterns map, and provides opportunities for practical application by readers through the addition of clinical examples of multifocused Genograms, maps, and time lines. It has also been fundamentally revised to include evidence-based practices that are backed up by literature and research, as well as the authors’ own clinical experience.

Rita De Maria, PhD, LMFT, LSW, is Director of Relationship Education at Council for Relationships. She specializes in marriage education, counseling, enrichment, divorce prevention, and premarital assessment and counseling. Gerald R. Weeks, PhD, is a professor and Chair of the Department of Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Markie L. C. Blumer, PhD, LMFT, is Assistant Professor in the Department of Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
