The Athenian Agora

The ancient Athenian Agora is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. In antiquity, it was the hub of the city’s public life, and its buildings were centers for political, religious, and trading activities. Today, a combination of ancient literary accounts and modern excavations allows us to gain a rich understanding of daily life in the Agora and its importance for Greek society. This book provides a comprehensive introduction to the development and current state of the excavations at this outstanding historical site.
