The International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) was jointly established by the Chinese government, UNDP and other international organizations in May 2005. Supervised domestically by the LGOP, the Center is also the world's sole international platform specialized in poverty reduction research, training, exchange and cooperation. When he addressed the 2015 Global Poverty Reduction and Development Forum in October 2015, China's President Xi Jinping stated that 'China will make good use of IPRCC and other international exchange platforms to propose Chinese solutions and contribute Chinese wisdom for the purpose of better sharing poverty reduction experience among developing countries.' The IPRCC's missions and tasks include conducting poverty reduction research, sharing development experience, advancing international exchanges, promoting South-South cooperation, engaging social forces in poverty alleviation, and introducing foreign capital to poverty alleviation.
This book explains in simple language the change of perspective and the transition of the systems for poverty alleviation, based on the fifteen-year development of China's poverty alleviation policy. Written by scholars from the International Poverty Reduction Center in China, Peking University and the China Agricultural University who have been engaged in the field of poverty alleviation for many years, the contributions combine views on China's poverty reduction policy with the authors' personal experiences. It is a valuable reference resource for researchers at the forefront of poverty alleviation and also appeals to anyone interested in poverty alleviation and China's poverty alleviation changes.
