This book introduces readers to the navigation, guidance and control technologies involved in single-spacecraft, double-spacecraft, and multiple-spacecraft tasks in elliptical orbits. It comprehensively covers the key technologies of guidance, navigation and control (GNC) system design for spacecraft in elliptical orbits, including the orbit design, formation configuration design and maintenance, autonomous navigation technology and relative navigation technology, as well as autonomous rendezvous technology. The methods that this book introduces are very close to actual practical engineering applications and presented in an accessible style.

The book can serve as reference teaching material for senior undergraduates and postgraduates with space navigation related majors, while also providing essential information and guidance for research personnel and engineering technical personnel engaged in the development of GNC systems for spacecraft.

Dr. Fucheng Liu is currently researcher and the director of the Shanghai Aerospace Control Technology Institute. He received his Ph. D degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2014. His research field is navigation, guidance and control system of spacecraft, and development of core products. He is an excellent young expert in aerospace technology, and serves in several national academic communities. With outstanding contributions for the development of the aerospace industry, he has been awarded 6 science technology prizes of ministerial and national level, the title of national excellent scientific and technological workers, Shanghai leading talent, and Shanghai technology research leader.

Dr. Shan Lu is researcher in Shanghai Aerospace Control Technology Institute. He received his Ph.D. degree from Beihang University in 2009. His research focuses on space manipulation and he has been engaged in spacecraft control system design and research for a long time. He has published 2 books, 50 journal papers, and obtained 15 authorized patents. Meanwhile he has been awarded 2 science technology prizes of ministerial level, the title of Shanghai youth talent, and Shanghai technology research leader.

Ms. Yue Sun is engineer in Shanghai Aerospace Control Technology Institute. Her research field focuses on guidance and control technology of spacecraft. She has been engaged in several national key research projects, including guidance and control technology of short range rendezvous, and design and control technique for long-term stable companying flying, etc. She has published 9 papers in journals and conferences and obtained 2 authorized patents.
