The Inland Way
McGraw-Hill Education (Verlag)
978-1-265-65074-2 (ISBN)
When the first Inland real estate company was founded in the late 1960s by four Chicago public school teachers, no one could have dreamed that the company would become one of the largest and most influential commercial real estate and finance groups in the country, with more than $100 billion in financial transactions. A three-time winner of the prestigious Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics from the Better Business Bureau, Inland is the gold standard in the industry. It's the kind of excellence every leader—in real estate and beyond—would love to emulate.
In The Inland Way, founder, CEO, and chairman Daniel L. Goodwin provides a blueprint to replicate this achievement, offering readers enduring lessons on the kind of leadership that made Inland so successful. It starts with being fair and doing the right thing, no matter the circumstances. More than 50 years later, this multibillion-dollar and industry-leading company is proof that doing the right thing is never the wrong decision. Not surprisingly (for a company built by teachers), continuous learning is also a huge part of the process. In these pages, you will discover how to build a successful business while staying true to your core values and beliefs—lessons that are applicable in any industry and are essential for growth both in business and in life.
Daniel L. Goodwin is founder, CEO, and Chairman of The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, Inc., one of the nation's largest commercial real estate and finance groups. He was the founding Chairman of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT) Non-traded REIT Council and the past Vice Chairman of the Chicago Better Government Association. He is a member of the National Association of REALTORS® President's Circle, the National Association of REALTORS® Hall of Fame, the Illinois Association of REALTORS® Hall of Fame, and the Chicago Association of REALTORS® Hall of Fame. A lifelong advocate of affordable housing, he has developed thousands of single-family and multi-family housing units across the country, and is founder of New Directions Housing Corporation, a not-for-profit developer of affordable housing for low-income residents throughout Illinois.
