This attractive and practical handbook meets a need among health care chaplains for guidelines in the training of volunteers. Many chaplains have been struggling with a keen and willing voluntary force but without the necessary training tools. This material is produced by those involved in the selection and training of volunteers and contains a detailed training programme along with criteria for the selection and appointment of volunteers.

The handbook reflects what is happening at the cutting edge of the NHS and is endorsed by the Chaplaincy (Health Care) Education and Development Group to be used ecumenically.

The handbook has been written and compiled by two chaplains from the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in collaboration with the Chaplaincy (Health Care) Education and Development Group.
