After the United Nations adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to "e;end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all,"e; researchers and policy makers highlighted the importance of targeted investment in science, technology, and innovation (STI) to make tangible progress.
