This book provides a practical reference to practice in small animal orthopaedic surgery. This third edition is updated and expanded. Conditions are described and techniques and instructions, supported by illustrations, are given. Part 1 is concerned with the healing of bone, tendon and muscle. The section contains expanded material on joint and bone diseases and tumours, and a new section on the management of chronic lameness. Part 2 discusses the management of fractures, and Part 3 covers the skull and spine. Additions to this section include temporomandibular ankylosis in the cat, ventral slot procedure, and vertebral distraction for "wobblers". In part 4, which covers the forelimb, the sections on bicepital tenosynovitis, congenital elbow luxation and carpal arthrodesis have been expanded. Part 5 covers the hind limb. Coverage of techniques used in hip dislocations and hip dysplasia have been expanded, and hip replacement using the Perot prosthesis is now included. Problems associated with the cruciate ligament are covered in more detail, and new sections cover partial cruciate ligament rupture, pelvic stenosis in the cat, tibial growth disturbances and hock arthrodesis.
