Challenges in Delivery of Therapeutic Genomics and Proteomics, Second Edition is a complete reference addressing the biological principles involved in gene and protein delivery to cells and tissues. Highlighting the various chemical, physical and biological approaches to protein and gene delivery, this book provides guidelines for pharmaceutical researchers in academia and corporate R&D. This new edition brings updates on the delivery of therapeutic proteomics and genomics in each chapter, and newly developed chapters on regulatory aspects of related products, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, and computational tools in genomics and proteomics. After an overview of the barriers to genomics and proteomics delivery, the book dives into physical, chemical, and biological methods of gene delivery. Further chapters discuss extensively the delivery of proteins and therapeutic peptides through the respiratory, oral, parenteral, transdermal, topical, uterine, and rectal pathways. Challenges in Delivery of Therapeutic Genomics and Proteomics, Second Edition represents an effort to encompass the knowledge about the origins of human diseases, systems biology and various aspects of personalized medicine and challenges in the field, to improve the effectiveness of genomics and proteomics therapies. This book is the ideal reference for pharmaceutical scientists dealing with gene and protein/peptide delivery. Regulators and corporate researchers can also benefit from the wide coverage of delivery methods presented.

Dr. Aliasgar Shahiwala is currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics, and Graduate Program Director, at Dubai Pharmacy College, Dubai, UAE. He received his MA and PhD in pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical technology from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India, with a particular research focus on the area of novel drug delivery. His postdoctoral research at Northeastern University, USA, centered on applications of nanotechnology in the field of drug delivery and drug targeting. With more than 20 years of teaching and research experience, Prof. Shahiwala has published several articles in international peer-reviewed journals, edited 4 books, and authored many book chapters, as well as being an active reviewer and editorial board member. Dr. Naazneen Surti is currently working as a Professor with Indukaka Ipcowala College of Pharmacy, CVM University. She holds the degree of Bachelor of Pharmacy, Master of Pharmacy in Pharmaceutics, and a Ph.D. in Pharmacy (Pharmaceutics) from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India. She is a seasoned professional with 24 years of experience which is a blend of industrial experience and academia. Her area of specialization is development of novel drug delivery systems. She has guided more than 45 students for their PG dissertations, 3 students for PhD and 6 industry defined projects.
