Chelsea Rousso was born in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania then moved to New York, New York, and lives and works in Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida. Rousso received a BFA from Pratt Institute in Fashion Design (1982) and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from Goddard College (2010). Rousso spent over 20 years as a fashion designer/design director in the New York fashion industry creating dresses and sportswear for major retailers such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Macys, Coldwater Creek, and specialty boutiques around the globe. Following her designing career, Rousso shared her knowledge and experience with fashion students at several colleges in South Florida including The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and Miami Dade College. She teaches fashion and glass at her private studio in South Florida to aspiring fashion creators. Rousso now combines her love of fashion and fused glass into a unique form of wearable glass including corsets, masks, and swimwear called “glasskinis”. Rousso held a wearable glass fashion show “Believe the Impossible: Glass Fashions in Wonderland” (January 22, 2022) at Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts in Dania Beach, Florida and Encore and Finale on April 1, 2022. Rousso held a virtual art show “Plunge into the Arts” at Plunge Beach Resort, Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida (May 22, 2020). Rousso held a wearable glass show at Benzaiten Art Center, Lake Worth, Florida (March 23, 2019). Nancy Kaplan Ostroff is Associate Professor and Assistant Chairperson of the Fashion Business Management program at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), USA. She holds A.A.S. and B.S. degrees in Fashion Marketing from the Fashion Institute of Technology, a M.A. degree in Business Education from New York University, and a SUNY Certificate in Instructional Design. Kaplan Ostroff is recipient of the 2011 SUNY Chancellor’s award for Excellence in Teaching. A former childrenswear executive, she is the creator and instructor of FIT’s Fashion Forecasting for Merchandisers and The Business of Licensing courses.
