Nanomaterials for Luminescent Devices, Sensors, and Bio-imaging Applications
Springer Verlag, Singapore
978-981-16-5369-8 (ISBN)
This book highlights the synthesis/fabrication of novel materials for different kinds of optical applications. It covers all aspects of optical applications starting from LED/Lasers, SERS, bio-sensing, bio-imaging and non-linear optical applications such as optical limiting, saturable absorbers etc. The book describes the development of novel materials and geometry as well as engineering of their size and shape for harvesting better optical properties. Nonconventional plasmonic materials and their fabrication are discussed apart from the conventionally employed noble metal based nanosystems. In addition, development of Novel materials/structures for biosensing /bioimaging /optical limiting are also covered.
Dr. Swapna S. Nair is currently chairing the Department of Physics at the Central University of Kerala. After receiving her Ph.D. from CUSAT, India, she worked in different European Labs as a Post-Doctoral Investigator. She had worked as an Assistant Professor at the International School of Photonics, CUSAT, India and has more than twenty years of research experience in fabrication of functional nanomaterials/structures for optical, electronic (storage/memory/PV) and biosensing/imaging applications. She has published/edited 2 books, 4 book chapters, 58 peer reviewed research articles and has a patent to her credit. Her major research areas are engineering novel nanomaterials for RAMs, Spintronics, energy harvesters, and sensing/imaging applications. Dr. Reji Philip is currently a Professor at the Raman Research Institute (RRI), India. After obtaining his Ph.D. from CUSAT, he worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the University of Regensburg, Germany, and as a Visiting Fellow at TIFR, Mumbai. He has held Visiting Scientist positions at the University of Massachusetts, Boston and the University of Central Florida, Orlando. His research interests are in the areas of nonlinear optics, laser produced plasmas, ultrafast spectroscopy and laser nanostructuring of surfaces. He has published 205 articles in peer-reviewed international journals. He also has 2 patents and 4 book chapters to his credit.
