He has previously worked as a senior Lighting Engineer and Academic Vice Dean, while his wide and varied consultancy work has included the design of large scale industrial photometers, a study of hospital lighting, a major office lighting study and he was invlolved in the UK government's Millennium Commission project for the floodlighting of churches.
