This book summarizes the latest advances in understanding chloride ingress and steel corrosion in concrete under service loads. Unlike the existing literature, it focuses specifically on the effect of service loads on chloride-induced durability issues in reinforced concrete structures. It discusses how service loads affect the moisture and chloride penetration rate, corrosion kinetics and rust distribution, as well as the structural performance of concrete components (e.g. beams and columns) in a systematic and hierarchical way. Given its scope, the book is chiefly intended for researchers and industry practitioners in structural engineering, particularly those whose work involves the durability design of concrete structures.

Dr. Hailong Ye is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Hong Kong. He obtained his B.Eng. (2010) in Civil Engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University, M.S. (2013) in Structural Engineering from Zhejiang University, and Ph.D. (2016) in Civil Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.  He worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Marie Curie Fellow at Penn State and the University of Sheffield.

Dr. Chuanqing Fu is a Professor in the School of Civil and Architectural Engineering of the Zhejiang University of Technology. He obtained his Ph.D. from Zhejiang University in 2012 and has worked as a postdoc in the field of solid mechanics and material science for 6 years. He is currently the Young and Middle-aged Academic Leader in Zhejiang Province of China.

Dr. Ye Tian is an Associate Professor at Zhejiang University.

Dr. Nanguo Jin is a Professor at Zhejiang University.
