Applicability of Ultrasonic Technique in Power Cable Production
The trend of today´s power transmission in high populated areas moves to underground cable systems. Cable insulation systems are very compact and need a high degree of quality to fullfill strong electrical requirements. Hereby, manufacturer trent to use online monitoring systems to verifyand control quality and customer specifications. The Institute for High Voltage Technology has a long history in research and development in the area of nondestructive test systems for high voltage components, especially power cables and accessories. Several applications using ultrasonic technique were developed, which allow online process monitoring and defect location.
