Written by a team of experienced teachers and researchers in Peace Studies, this book assesses the field of peace and conflict research from its origins to the present day. It introduces influential concepts and theories, and examines the processes and dynamics of peacebuilding. Dong Jin Kim is Visiting Academic at the School of Religion, Theology, and Peace Studies, Trinity College Dublin. His has extensive publication records in the areas of peace processes, peacebuilding, humanitarian and development cooperation. He is author of The Korean Peace Process and Civil Society (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019, Rethinking Peace and Conflict Studies Series), and co-editor (with David Mitchell) of Reconciling Divided States: Peace Processes in Ireland and Korea (Routledge, 2022).
Gillian Wylie is Associate Professor in International Peace Studies at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. She has twenty-five years' experience teaching and researching in the field of Peace Studies and is the author of The International Politics of Human Trafficking (Palgrave 2016). Her recent publications are on human displacement and peacebuilding in the Routledge Companion to Peace and Conflict Studies (Byrne et al 2020) and on women and peace (in Mitchell and Kim eds 2022).
David Mitchell is Associate Professor, Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation, at Trinity College Dublin at Belfast. He is co-ordinator of the MPhil in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation. As well as many articles in leading scholarly journals, he is author of Politics and Peace in Northern Ireland (Manchester University Press, 2015) and co-editor (with Dong Jin Kim) of Reconciling Divided States: Peace Processes in Ireland and Korea (Routledge, 2022).
