In consideration of the outcomes and the significance of the vitality of training in enhancing all contemporary human activity and the prominent role training plays represented in on-the-job training leading to the success of the administrative function, there is an urgent need for modern methods and manners of training the human cadres in different professional fields; this is especially true in the security field, which requires a special character in the experiences and skills acquired by the security man during his years of service which has a prominent role of this mission and achieving his goals. The different methods and means of on-the-job training are considered the most successful ways for achieving the expected objective through which the security group acquires creative experiences and skills that could refine and enhance future security efficiencies.
The adoption of the on-the-job training, its methodology and its application will enable and give the new professionals the opportunity to acquire the experience and skills of their predecessors and subsequently be sure of the future of the security function and its leaders. As seasoned professionals in the field retire, it is training which minimizes the volume of loss reflected in the absence of any human databases imposed by administrative transitions, the orderly retirement or end of service which takes away much of the creative efficiencies in the security cadres.
In light of the above mentioned, the researcher has formulated the problem as the following main query:
What is the current status of the on-the-job training of the security cadres (Riyadh City Police Stations)?
RESEARCH IMPORTANCE:
The significance or the research arises from the nature and vitality or the training subject in general and the importance of the training methods and manners in the security field in particular. The research deals with studying and analyzing one of the security societies represented in Riyadh City police stations in order to verify the actual on-the-job training, its methods and manners, the obstacles that prevent its application and the manner of facing such obstacles, and the advantages of adopting it.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES:
First: To answer the research queries in order to know the more about the specific subject and site:
1. The concept of on-the-job training in Riyadh City police stations.
2. The methods and manners of on-the-job training currently adopted in Riyadh City police stations.
3. The obstacles that face on-the-job training in Riyadh City police stations.
4. The advantages of adopting the on-the-job training methods and manners in Riyadh City police stations.
5. To what extent do the points of view of the sample individuals vary according to their different job backgrounds towards the methods and manners of the on-the-job training in Riyadh City police stations?
Second: Presentation of recommendations that the researcher hopes will serve and enhance on-the-job training in the security field in general and on-the-job training in Riyadh City police stations in particular and subsequently the circularization of the research results and recommendations on all the security cadres.
RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS/QUESTIONS:
This research will also seek to answer the following queries: -
1. How well-known is the on-the-job training concept in Riyadh City police stations?
2. What are the methods and manners of the on-the-job training currently adopted in Riyadh City police stations?
3. What are the obstacles facing the on-the-job training in Riyadh City police stations?
6. What are the advantages of adopting the on-the-job training methods and manners in Riyadh City police stations?
4. To what extent do the points of view of the sample individuals vary according to their different job backgrounds towards the methods and manners of the on-the-job training in Riyadh City police stations?
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
The researcher used the descriptive analytical methodology through the documentary method by gathering of data and information through different references and sources to establish the theoretical frame and to explore previous studies on the research subject. The researcher prepared a questionnaire to gather information on the research subject composed of 56 terms distributed on four main axes that cover the previous research queries. Because the descriptive analytical method has several alternative strategies, the researcher used the social survey strategy as the most suitable method for the research subject. The research population included all Riyadh city police officers composed of (181) officers at the time of the study out of which (145) officers responded.
MAIN RESULTS:
The study results revealed that the arithmetic mean of the clarity of the on-the-job training concept in Riyadh city police stations was 2.87 and that the clarity of the training concept is divided into three groups, to wit:
1. The highly evident concepts comprising four phrases.
2. The average evident concept comprising one phrase.
3. The low evident concepts comprising six phrases. It is worth mentioning that these six phrases comprise more than 50% of the phrases that form the on-the-job training, the thing which necessitates increasing the awareness of Riyadh City police officers to on-the-job training.
The study has also shown that the arithmetic means of the axes of the methods and manners of the on-the-job training currently adopted in Riyadh City police stations is moderate as the arithmetic mean amounted to 2.27, and that the methods and manners are divided into three groups:
1. Moderate on-the-job training methods and manners adopted currently comprising four manners.
2. Low on-the-job training methods and manners currently adopted comprising eight methods and manners.
3. Very low on-the-job training methods and manners currently adopted comprising one method.
In contrast, the study has shown that the arithmetic mean of the axes of the obstacles of the on-the-job training methods and manners in Riyadh city police stations are high as the arithmetic mean amounted to 3.72) and that the obstacles are divided into three groups, that are:
1. Very high work obstacles within on-the-job training methods and manners amounting to one obstacle.
2. High work obstacles during within on-the-job training methods and manners amounting to fifteen obstacles.
3. Moderate work obstacles within on-the-job training methods and manners amounting to three obstacles.
The study has also shown that the arithmetic mean of the advantages of on-the-job training in Riyadh City police stations is high as the arithmetic mean amounted to 3.94, and that three advantages existed which are divided into two groups-
1. Very high advantage of the on-the-job training methods and manners amounting to only one advantage.
2. High positiveness of the on-the-job training methods and manners amounting to twelve advantages.
In the last axis dealing with the statistical indicative differences in responses that are related to the personal variables of the research subjects, the following results were obtained:
1. There are statistically significant differences in the responses of the sample of individuals that are related to the police station in the axis of the concept of on-the-job training and the existence of statistical indicative differences in the remaining axes as the indication did not reach 0.5 which is acceptable in the social sciences.
2. There are statistically significant differences in the responses of the sample of individuals that are related to the clarity of the on-the-job training concept for the benefit of those who are the age of 30 and less than 40 years as compared to those aged 20 to less than 30 years. The existence of differences is not of a statistical significance in the remaining axes as the indication did not reach 0.05, which is acceptable in the social sciences.
