This book analyses and evaluates the accomplishments, challenges, and approaches associated with the New Public Management (NPM) in Africa towards establishing context-specific interventions for public sector institutions' performance. Taking the reader through various business and management approaches, including leadership in the public sector, digitalisation, market orientation and trust building, this book provides an understanding of the key issues facing public sector organisations in Africa and offers novel ways of approaching public management in a changing socio-economic landscape to drive improved performance of public institutions.

The book offers students, practitioners and researchers important insights on NPM and public sector institutions in Africa. The recommendations of the book will help government and policymakers implement appropriate public sector management policies for strengthening public sector service delivery in Africa.

lt;p>Professor Robert E Hinson has fourteen edited/authored books to his credit, one hundred and seven journal articles, and won numerous journal/conference awards. He is Head of the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of Ghana Business School, and Acting Director of Institutional Advancement in the same University.

Nnamdi O. Madichie, is currently a Research Fellow at the Bloomsbury Institute, London. He is a Professor of Marketing & Entrepreneurship at the Unizik Business School, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria, as well as Visiting Professor at the Coal City University, Enugu, Nigeria. Professor Madichie is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (FCIM), Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI), and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).

Ogechi Adeola is an Associate Professor of Marketing and Head of Department of Operations, Marketing and Information Systems at the Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, Nigeria. Her research interests include tourism and hospitality,marketing communications, strategic marketing, and digital marketing strategies in sub-Saharan Africa. Her co-authored papers won Best Paper Awards at international academic conferences in 2016-2019, consecutively.

Justice Nyigmah Bawole is a Professor of Public Administration and Management and current Dean of the University of Ghana Business School. He previously served as Head of Department for Public Administration and Health Services Management. He obtained a PhD in development policy and management from the Global Development Institute at the University of Manchester, UK.

Isaiah Adisa is a management researcher and consultant based in Nigeria. He has co-edited books on green marketing and green people management. His co-authored article won the Best Paper award at the 13th MBAcademy International Conference in 2019. His research interest cut across human resource management, marketing and gender studies.

Kwame Asamoah is an Associate Professor in Public Administration and Head, Department of Public Administration and Health Services Management, University of Ghana Business School, Legon.  He holds a PhD in Public Administration from Jackson State University. He is currently the Chairman, Board of Directors of Architectural and Engineering Services Limited.
