"This book really will offer some new and exciting ideas for teachers to teach. Even teachers who enjoy their job often complain that they become stale after teaching the same things every year. They look for new ideas that will reignite their enthusiasm. I think this book could offer some sparks"

Jo Howells, English Advisor, Warwickshire Educational Development Service

From Cleopatra to Ghandi from Halloween to Valentines Day, 100 Drama Lessons for the Primary School Year provides compelling month by month drama workshops for the primary classroom marking significant dates and anniversaries to capture children’s imagination and provide a launch pad to Learning. Specifically designed to support creative cross-curricular approaches to teaching, the workshop programme includes topics related to Halloween, Remembrance Day, Christmas, Shakespeare’s Birthday, St George’s Day, D-Day, Earth Day, Valentine’s Day, May Day. It will also include international and multi-cultural dates such as Mandela Day, American Independence Day, World Aids Day, Chinese New Year etc. and dates which fit in with themes and periods that regularly feature in the primary curriculum (eg The Romans, The Egyptians).

This unique resource will enable teachers to develop their expertise and grow confidence in creating original drama experiences to meet their own unique classroom needs. It offers a programme of ready-to-run workshops linked to specific dates in the calendar and specific themes into which teachers can readily dip on a regular basis throughout the year.

These detailed drama lesson plans can be run as ‘one-off’ workshops in celebration or recognition of specific dates, or can be used as the basis of class or whole year special assemblies. In addition 100 Drama Lessons will also take the next step in delivering teachers to the point of confidence at which they are able to consider creating their own drama experiences and offering a creative structure to support these new creative planning tasks.
