Wendy Wall (PhD, Stanford) is associate professor of history at Binghamton University. She is the author of Inventing the “American Way”: The Politics of Consensus from the New Deal to the Civil Rights Movement (2008, paperback 2009) and specializes in twentieth-century history and the American West. Kenneth J. Winkle, acclaimed Lincoln biographer and Civil War historian, is Thomas C. Sorensen Professor of American History at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. The Young Eagle, his volume on Lincoln’s rise, is the standard account.
