In the summer of 2007, the author set out with the help of friends and family, to explore the Thames from Reading to Lechlade. This book describes the pleasures, and the difficulties, along the way. It highlights the problem of finding somewhere to moor, and, when weather worsened, somewhere safe to moor.
Having cruised the stretch of the River Thames from Limehouse to Reading some years ago in my 60ft narrowboat, Katyman, I set out in the summer of 2007, with the help of many friends, and my family, to explore the Thames from Reading to Lechlade. This proved to be a time of extreme weather and the book tells of the pleasures, and the difficulties, along the way. It highlights the problem of finding somewhere to moor, and, when weather worsened, somewhere safe to moor. This account may be useful to boaters contemplating a similar cruise on this beautiful stretch of the river. Happy Boating.
