Bin angeln!

Heiko Boersch, born in Rostock in 1964, started fishing as a boy at the age of nine. He graduated from high school and studied electronics at Rostock University. Immediately after the end of the GDR, he had the opportunity to become self-employed and he successfully founded an IT company as a co-owner. Fishing has always been his great passion alongside his job and since 1990 he has also used a sailing boat on the Bodden waters of Western Pomerania and the Baltic Sea. He met his wife during a serious illness and since then they have been travelling together with and without a boat. Fishing with a rod is still his focus and today his grandchildren also like to come to the water with him. Interesting stories, especially about fishing and sailing, fascinated him from an early age. Over thirty years ago he won a competition with a fishing story and travelled to Holland for a weekend to visit the well-known fishing book author Jan Eggers. Over the years he wrote several reports about his travels on a sailing boat, but these were not published. Excerpts from Ulrich Basan's diaries, which appeared in the GDR fishing newspaper at the end of the 1980s, gave him the inspiration to turn his stories into a book. He particularly liked Basan's casual and humorous writing style, with nonchalance as Basan himself says, and this can also be found in "Bin angeln!"
