Utilising previously unpublished photographs, Howard Berry tells the story of Ford buses and coaches.
Even though Ford is one of the oldest vehicle manufacturers in the world, it was not until the late 1950s that it seriously entered the bus and coach building market. Through innovation and a commitment to stress the durability of its products, Ford soon captured a large share of the lightweight bus and coach market. Although their foray into the world of full-sized bus and coach building was to last fewer than thirty years, their products were considered successful enough to enter some of the largest and most prestigious fleets across Britain.

Covering the entire period of full-sized vehicle production, this book gives an overview of the models produced during this time, starting with the Thames and continuing through the various incarnations of the R series range. Containing a brief description of each chassis type and 180 photographs, most in colour and all with informative captions, it showcases Ford’s products when in their operating heyday.

Howard Berry inherited his interest in road transport from his father. He has a real fondness for or the products of AEC, and for many years has been a Director and committee member of The AEC Society. Having written numerous articles on coach companies who operated AEC’s, he took the plunge and published his first book, a history or Roselyn Coaches of Cornwall in 2017. He has spent 30 years in the passenger transport industry and lives in rural North Shropshire.
