Chainsaw Carving an Eagle
Fox Chapel Publishing (Verlag)
978-1-56523-253-2 (ISBN)
Step-by-step instructions for creating four different eagle designs from a tree trunk or log are detailed in this chainsaw carving guide. The four projects include an eagle head plaque, a standing eagle with a fish, a soaring eagle, and an eagle bench. Each project features a detailed sketch, instructions for carving step cuts, texturing, adding final details, and finishing options and techniques. An extensive gallery of finished pieces provides inspiration for novice chainsaw carvers and showcases the work of both authors. A great deal of space is dedicated to chainsaw safety, including tools, clothing, clamping, and work areas.
Jamie Doeren is an award-winning artist with more than 27 years of experience in sculpture. Dennis Roghair started carving at an early age with a pocket knife, a tool he used to carve many small projects. In high school, he inherited hand carving tools by way of a brother's wife. With these tools, he paid his way through college in Utah doing sculptures while earning a degree in wildlife management. Dennis now carves full time in Hinckley, Minnesota. He can be reached there or contacted through his website at www.SculptureByRoghair.com.
