This manual is a continuation of Marty Marten's first volume on solving common horse behaviour problems both in the saddle and on the ground. It addresses problems with bridling; difficult-to-saddle horses; hoof and leg handling; trail-riding troubles; difficulties with tying-up; and more.
This manual is a continuation of Marty Marten's first volume on solving common horse behaviour problems both in the saddle and on the ground. Chapters address problems with bridling; cinchy or difficult-to-saddle horses; horses that won't stand still to be mounted; hoof and leg handling; trail-riding troubles, such as walking too fast or charging up and down hills; difficulties with tying-up and opening and closing gates; and extreme problems such as rearing, running away, and bucking. The volume is the second of two by Marty Marten which are designed to provide answers and solutions to riders' most common horsemanship concerns. Marten emphasizes that what most people consider a problem is really a symptom. His methods and philosophy are based on how horses think, learn and communicate naturally. Rather than make a horse do what is asked, Marten's approach sets up the training in a way that allows the horse to search for the right answer. The horse's slightest try is rewarded by the handler's or rider's immediate release of pressure.

Marty Marten has devoted his life to helping people solve horse problems, start colts, and trailer-load horses by giving public and private horsemanship clinics. Marty has given safety clinics for feed-yard cowboys in Texas, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, and Kansas, and private clinics for owners and wranglers at Colorado guest ranches. He lives in Lafayette, Colorado.
