At 11.11am the skies over Devon and Cornwall will go dark and the stars will come out for up to 2.5 minutes. For the first time since 1927, the UK will experience a total eclipse of the sun -- when the moon entirely covers the sun. The aim of this book is to give all the background information that is needed to understand and enjoy this fleeting natural phenomena -- why it happens, how often, what you will see and how long it will last. The map will cover the eclipse on an international (it can be seen from a strip running from the western Atlantic, through Europe, across the Middle East and then across India), European and UK basis, with maps to show where it can be best viewed and statistics on where in the world there is the least likelihood of the eclipse being obscured by clouds. The UK map will be based on the Collins Road Atlas and will show in detail where in Devon and Cornwall you can see the total eclipse from -- down to the last village and road.
Finally, to complete the package, the book and map pack will be supplied with a free pair of eclipse viewers -- specially designed to allow the eclipse to be viewed in complete safety. Without these looking at the sun would be extremely dangerous.
