Sophomore Katie Krieg finds a note in her backpack written with letters cut out of a magazine. The note accuses her of having a thing with the young, handsome lit teacher, Mr. Grayson. As a result of encephalitis she suffered as little girl, Katie is afflicted with psycho-motor epilepsy. As the story unfolds, the reader learns about this disorder and its treatment. As Katie says, I dont try to hide it, but its not something you want to go around broadcasting, either. People are still in the Dark Ages about epilepsy and seizure disorders. Dont Cross Your Heart Katie Krieg is a compelling mystery and drives home the importance of friendship, trust, and compassion.
