For the second time in two seasons Bristol Rovers fans suffered an anxiety-fuelled finale. In 2015 they were promoted after a penalty shoot-out and in 2016 they secured promotion with virtually the last kick of the regular season. Rovers programme editor Keith Brookman tells the story in a match-by-match account.
For the second time in two seasons Bristol Rovers fans suffered an anxiety-fuelled finale to the team's campaign. In 2015 they were promoted through the play-offs after a penalty shoot-out and in 2016 they secured promotion with virtually the last kick of the regular season to beat Dagenham and Redbridge 2-1 while Accrington Stanley could only draw 0-0 with Stevenage. Rovers programme editor Keith Brookman tells the story in a match-by-match account. The support that Bristol Rover achieved in the 2015/16 season was truly remarkable and those who attended games, home and away, really were the twelfth man in another successful season that saw the club achieve back-to-back promotions for the first time in their history. This record of the 2015/16 season is dedicated not only to them but to Gasheads in this country and all over the world who, in spite of being unable to attend matches, still show their support for this very special football club.
